Your Wellness Is Our Passion... To Make You Work More

Updated: Dec 3

Cartoon satire on corporate wellness hypocrisy. A speaker promotes 'Your Wellness - Our Passion' while the policy reads: 'Your office work is your entire life.'

Have you ever been asked to meditate right after working a weekend?

As the creator of Kaapi with Ravi, I believe that scenario perfectly defines the bitter joke of Corporate Wellness Hypocrisy. While many companies genuinely support well-being, in some places, they promote balance but demand your entire life.

This cartoon of mine shows this confusing reality. I think it proves that corporate "passion" in some places is just a funny code for overwork culture.

Decoding the Wellness Paradox

When "wellness" is just another way to demand 120% productivity.

The cartoon is simple, but the message is subtle. The banner says, "YOUR WELLNESS – OUR PASSION." The honest punchline is: "Your office work is your entire life." This paradox defines a key struggle in modern Culture - Is the yoga class a perk, or is it mandatory recovery?

The Logic Behind the Wellness Program Joke

Why might some organizations offer praise without corresponding pay raises? The reason is usually simple math and shifting responsibility.

Shifting Responsibility: Real balance needs systemic change. It needs realistic deadlines and enough staff. In some companies, they give individual fixes like stress apps instead. They shift the burnout problem onto the employee. This approach is sometimes seen as a failure of Leadership.

The Productivity Cover-Up: Wellness programs often aim to maintain performance. They try to repair employees just enough. Then they send them back into a high-pressure environment. In certain environments, they treat people like easily repairable machines. This dynamic is a common problem in Culture.

The Career Question: Employees sometimes fear using wellness benefits. Taking time off could look bad. This fear can limit their Career growth.

Finding Real Balance (Food for Thought)

Fixing corporate wellness hypocrisy needs thought and honesty, not just more buzzwords.

  1. Look for Structure: Departmental planning must include enough time and resources. Overwork should be rare, not normal.

  2. Look at Leadership's Actions: Senior Leadership should visibly disconnect during off-hours. This sets a healthy, honest example.

  3. Measuring What Matters: True wellness should be measured by happy staff and low turnover. It is not just about gym membership sign-ups. Tools in AI & Tech can help us track these meaningful outcomes.

Your well-being is not the company's passion—it is your priority. Don't let empty slogans confuse your boundaries. Use my cartoon to reflect on where your company stands.
