Some workplace boundaries are clear. Others … quietly dissolve over time.
This employee exploitation cartoon is my take on a very real and toxic corporate habit of few senior managers:
| who treat employees like their personal “man Friday.”
The spark for this cartoon came from a friend who joked that his appraisal had nothing to do with his official work — and everything to do with how well he helped his manager outside office hours. That line stayed with me. It was absurd, funny, and painfully believable.
So I imagined the most exaggerated version of it.
That’s the kind of satire I enjoy creating: Taking the everyday nonsense of corporate life and stretching it just enough to reveal the humour hiding inside. It’s also my way of surfacing the highly toxic — often silent, but very real — behaviours that people quietly tolerate in many workplaces.
If you’ve ever been asked to do something wildly outside your job description, this cartoon will feel uncomfortably familiar — and hopefully, very funny.
If workplace absurdities like this make you smile, you might enjoy a few more from my collection:
If this reminded you of something you've seen at work, share your experience in the comments — I’d love to hear it.
